FIFA rankings: Nigeria drops to 37th

The Super Eagles’ winless start to the 2015 Africa Nations cup qualifiers has cost them dearly as they have dropped four places in the latest FIFA rankings.

Nigeria started off their AFCON 2013 title defence poorly with a loss at home to Congo and a draw away to South Africa.

The Africa champions ranking of 37th means they are now out of Africa’s top five ranked nations, ranked sixth on the continent behind Algeria, Cote d’ivoire, Tunisia, Ghana and Senegal. Algeria are now Africa’s number one football playing nation based on the FIFA rankings after moving up four places to 20th in the world after a 100 percent start to the AFCON 20015 qualifiers.

Cote d’ivoire are ranked in 22nd, Tunisia moved up 11 places to 31st in the World, but third in Africa.

Ghana are fourth in Africa ranked 33rd in the world with Senegal completing Africa’s top five nation with a ranking of 36th. Globally Germany, Argentina, Colombia, Netherlands and Belgium completes the top five while Brazil narrowly missing out on a spot in the top five as they are ranked sixth.
