Maltina unveils Teacher of The Year Competition for Nigerian Teachers

Nigerian Breweries Plc has launched Maltina Teacher-of-the-Year Award – an initiative worth N50 million annually to reward commitment and diligence to duty by teachers across Nigeria.

The award is sponsored by the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, and it’s aimed at restoring the pride of teachers and the dignity of the teaching profession in Nigeria.

Speaking at the launch of the maiden edition of Maltina Teacher of the Year Award held in Lagos, the foundation’s Corporate Affairs Adviser, Mr. Kufre Ekanem said: “The Maltina Teachers of the Year is an initiative designed to recognise, celebrate and motivate teachers in Nigeria with a first year focus on public secondary schools.”

He said, apart from the initial reward for the first, second and third best, the exceptional teacher of the year will also get five million, which will be repeated  for five years. He noted that the Nigerian Breweries -Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund established in 1994, was to enable active contributions to the development of the education sector in Nigeria.

To participate, interested teachers in public schools are to download application form from the Maltina website, www.maltina-nigeria.com. Further instructions can also be found on the site.

Applications start from Wednesday, 20th May, and will be on until Tuesday, 30th June, 2015

The state champions and national winners will be celebrated in a grand ceremony on Monday, October 5, 2015.
