A Magistrates’ Court, sitting at Isabo in Abeokuta has remanded a 19-year-old teenager, Kashi Kaye, in Oba Prison for allegedly killing a six-year-old boy by shooting him with a dane gun.
The acussed was reportedly playing with the gun which, unknown to him was loaded but, suddenly tampered with the trigger and accidentally shot one Lateef Popoola who was coming back from the school.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Augustine Ozimini told the court, yesterday, that the offence was committed on August 17 at about 1 p.m. at Ojebiyi, Odedan, Abeokuta.
According to Ozimini, the offence contravened Sections 316 and 319 of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006.
The accused’s plea was not taken by the court on the charge of manslaughter because he was not represented by a counsel.
The Magistrate, Mr. Emanuel Adekunte remanded the accused in Oba Prison till December 6, the next adjournment date.
