Week Two: Coordinate Geometry of Straight line

INTRODUCTION:

Straight lines in coordinate geometry are the same idea as in regular geometry, except that they are drawn on a coordinate plane and we can do more with them. Consider the line in Fig 1. INTRODUCTION:

To determine the distance between two coordinate points, a formula used. said formula is an algebraic expression which can be seen thus-  (x1, y1) and (x2, y2).

D=(x2−x1)2+(y2−y1)2 √D=(x2−x1)2+(y2−y1)2


Example

Find the distance between (-1, 1) and (3, 4).

This problem is solved simply by plugging our x- and y-values into the distance formula:
