3 Challenges Teens Can Relate With

DISTRACTION:

A harbinger of bad omen is what I term distraction as but a determined individual can break it jinx. Distraction is a thing that takes your heart off what you are thinking or what you are doing.

There are a whole lot of distractions poking their ways into the lives of various students in different areas. They come in different ways; most of which is the watching of movies. Some student devout quality duration of their time to watch season films with their books suffering in silence because they have not been opened for a long time.  Some others are distracted by romantic relationships. They seek to belong, to keep up with the joneses, peer pressure sets in and according to Shiv Khera, peer pressure is when you do not have the courage to say no, thank you.

At this stage, guys flock around with ladies leaving their academics to suffer. Even the bible says “you cannot serve God and mammon”. How do you want to serve ladies and serve your book properly? Nay, it is not possible. Media devices, phones, headsets are another sets of distraction.

If students can eliminate distraction or reduce it to it barest minimum and put cognizance to reading their books for a better future that can translate into a better nation, their academics would take a new form and shape.

  1. PROCRASTINATION

Paraphrasing what Abonyi Ikenna called procrastination, “the jet that leads one to the island of never”. It means the “procraster” would never do what he “procrasted”. Shifting time when there is no time is dangerous. To extricate yourself from this tragic eater of success, you need to activate the self starter that Napoleon Hill describe as “Do it now”. Whatever you want to do, once it comes to your mind, do it at instant. Do not allow procrastination fly you to a never city where you tend not to achieve anything worthwhile.

As a high school student, you are being taught a new topic today in your subject offered. What then should you do on getting home? Revise it, read it and get it at once instead of keeping it till the eve of exams when you have less than little time to complete your study. This has made even the brilliant ones perform below expectation. They never knew that procrastination cannot carry you to your destination.

  1. WAYWARDNESS

Your attitude as they say determines your altitude, nowadays our society is suffering from amorality which has imitated a dramatic moral decay in almost all works of life.

‘Waywardness’, the act of derailing from right conduct is often fueled by peer influence, the inability to say no, thank you. Since they are still young, they tend to let go of anything at all. Their minds are open to anything, just “maga” bad things in and “maga” good things out (MIMO)

Students are mostly confronted with this problem. Some students born and breed with good morals and manners and taught good principles end up being wayward. Being brought up in a Christian home does not necessarily fabricate that good state of life to them, they only fad it but after some period, they forget it.

Most cultists you see today, if traced back to their background, most of them are from Christian homes, even some have pastors as their parents, and how many hours do you as a parents spend with your kid to know more about what they do.
