Thirty-six of the Chibok girls that escaped from the Boko Haram sect have been awarded scholarships to study at different schools in Nigeria.
According to the Borno State government, the girls have already been admitted into International schools in Abuja, Kaduna and Plateau States.
The government expects to spend a minimum of N1.4m on each of the girls’ fees.
It will also provide funds for all other needs.
The state governor, Kashim Shettima, the girls were relocated on experts’ advise, adding that the state government had not give up hope concerning the other abducted girls still in their captors’ grips.
Shettima urged the girls to focus on their education and put their past behind them.
He promised to award further scholarships for tertiary education to any of the girls that pass a minimum of five credits in their Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (SSCE).
The girls were abducted by insurgents from their school, the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, on April 14 alongside over 200 others.
