5 Signs You Don’t Have To Be Friends With Someone

We’ve all had friendships that have fizzled and faded out over the years. Sometimes one person moves away, which makes staying in touch hard. Other times, there was some sort of fall-out that you two couldn’t get over, and thus the friendship had to end. Most people think that when you end a friendship, it has to be this big knock-down-drag-out fight, but that is not the case. There are times when you may feel that you no longer want this friend in your life and guess what? That’s totally fine.

There are no rules that say that you have to be friends with someone. If you’ve got a personal issue and choose not to continue a friendship or if you really don’t like someone, you don’t have to be their friend. If you’ve ever felt pressured to be friends with someone, know that you aren’t the only one. Here are 5 reasons you don’t have to be friends with someone.

You Feel Pressured To Do Things You Would Never Do

Friends are supposed to have things in common. If your friend does things that you are completely against, or you feel pressured to do them because you’re his/her friend, it’s not cool. You should never do anything you don’t want to do, or feel like you have to prove yourself to your friends.

They Make You Feel Bad About Yourself

No one should ever make you feel bad about yourself. If you’ve started to notice that your friend is tearing you down more than lifting you up, you need to end the friendship. They’re not a true friend and you don’t need that negativity in your life.

You’re Not Into Gossip, But They Are

Gossiping about things and people that you know is normal. Gossiping non-stop about everything is not. If you’re friends with a girl/guy who constantly gossips and puts others down, but you’re not into it, then you don’t have to be his/her friend. It’s really hard to be around someone who loves to see others upset, if this isn’t you, then don’t feel bad about not wanting to hangout with him/her as much.

You Don’t Really Like His/Her Personality

Let’s be real, there are some people in the world whose personalities just don’t click, and that’s okay. Some people just aren’t meant to be friends. This doesn’t mean that you have to be at each others throats, but you guys don’t have to be friends either.

You See No Effort From Their End

Being used is never okay, especially when it comes to friendships. If you feel like you are constantly putting more effort into the friendship and don’t see any effort from their part, then end it.
