#PNN E-Mentoring (kayla chanai): The Most Important Things Every Teen Should Know

Hey Peeps! Sorry I have been off for a while. I’m back again and am so glad to be sharing with you. As teenagers, I think there are some basic things you should know because it’s going to help you make better choices and become a better person. The first one we would be talking about is Education.

What do you think about when someone says “education”? Did you think about going to school? Teachers? Homework? Or do you think about “learning” and “gaining knowledge”

Education is defined in the Oxford dictionary is a process of teaching, training and learning especially in schools and colleges, to improve knowledge and develop skills. When they say Knowledge is power, it isn’t exaggerated.

The first and the most important fact about education is that it provides you with insight on various topics and areas such as Math, Science, Religion, Health, Social Science, Geography, and many more subjects belonging to different fields and disciplines.

Education is what separates humans from animals. Education makes us confident, make us independent. Education spreads awareness in society about how we can be good social beings and removes the blanket of ignorance and helps people know their fundamental rights . Education helps in imparting moral values which is missing in our society. It Provides knowledge and information

Education also helps in improving the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) of a person. The main reason for this is, when young people learn subjects such as Math, Logic, and Statistics, their brains develop in such a manner that they are able to think and solve problems in the best or at worst in a much better way. Education is a way to sharpen your intelligence and school is just a place of concentrated learning.

Education helps make/ take quality decisions: The knowledge gained through good and effective education helps teenagers to better evaluate a problem and take/ make better quality decisions.

Here is one of my favorite quotes on education by President Gordon B. Hinckley:

“Get all the education you can. I repeat, I do not care what you want to be as long as it is honorable. A car mechanic, a brick layer, a plumber, an electrician, a doctor, a lawyer, a merchant, but not a thief. But whatever you are, take the opportunity to train for it and make the best of that opportunity. Now is the great day of preparation for each of you. If it means sacrifice, then sacrifice. That sacrifice will become the best investment you have ever made, for you will reap returns from it all the days of your life.”

Will be back next week!
