Whether she’s just your crush or a dude you just started dating, it’s easy to misunderstand someone’s text messages. When you can’t hear the person’s voice or see their face, it’s hard to figure out exactly what they mean.

Here is your guide on what his/her texts say vs. what they really mean. This isn’t overly representative ‘cos everyone is obviously different. Just keep this stuff at the back of your mind the next time you’re texting your crush. It might help you figure out what his/her texts really mean.

Silence Means…

“I’m not interested, take the hint.” If a girl is completely ignoring your texts and not responding at all, that means that she doesn’t like you. She doesn’t want to tell you that, though, so instead she’s just going to ignore you until you figure it out on your own.

One-Word Answers Mean…

She either doesn’t feel like talking or she just doesn’t like texting. It’s hard to tell with this one. A lot of folks just aren’t into texting or they’re too busy to text, but they’re doing it because they want you to know they’re interested. On the other hand, she might not be into you at all and she just feels too guilty to ignore you. Go with your gut to figure out which makes the most sense.

If You Want Means…

“I don’t really care.” If you ask a girl if she wants to hang out later and she responds by saying, “If you want,” that’s basically her being completely noncommittal. She basically means, “We can hang out if you feel like it, but if we don’t I’m not going to be too bummed.” In certain circumstances, it could also be possible that she’s just trying not to be pushy. Either way, this response is incredibly frustrating.

Send A Sexy Pic Means…

“I want to see you naked right now.” When a dude asks if you’ll send a sexy picture, that’s pretty much him being like, “Hey, I want to see you naked and also I want to save this picture on my phone. I would never advise you to send a naked picture to a guy since that pics can live forever and haunt you for the rest of your life.

Whatever You Want Means…

“I want to do what you want to do.” If you ask him what he wants to do when you guys hang out later that night and his answer is an insistent, “Whatever you want,” that means he wants to please you. He wants YOU to pick something to do because he wants you to be happy and have a good time. Guys like when you take the reigns a little bit, so don’t be afraid to have some date suggestions.

Pretty/Hey You/Baby/Cutie/Sweetie Means…

“I like you.” If he’s giving you cutesy nicknames, he’s probably into you. Whether that means he just wants to get so close or be your boyfriend.

So When Can We Hang Out Again Means…

“I’m into you and can’t wait to see you again.” Aw! She likes you! If a gurl isn’t interested and had a horrible time on a date, trust me, she’s not going to be all like, “So when can we hang out again?” Take this as a good sign.

A Wink Face Means…

“I’m flirting with you.” Everyone knows that a wink face is the text message equivalent of flirting. If s/he’s sending you little winky faces after certain sentences, s/he’s probably into you in some way and s/he’s trying to let you know that through emoticons.
