Since the creation of this world, thousands of wars had been fought and billions of innocent lives claimed during those wars. The after effects of wars are always terrible, leaving destroyed buildings, people with disabilities, depressed economic growth, broken families and much more. There are various reasons why nations go to war, however, most of them are ridiculous and stupid.

World’s Shortest War

The shortest war was fought between the United Kingdom and Sultanate of Zanzibar (Tanzania nowadays) on 27th August 1896 which lasted just within 40 minutes. This 40-minutes war claimed about 500 lives as the British troops bombarded the palace of the king.

World’s Longest War

The longest war of the world was a bloodless war when Netherlands and Isle of Scilly remained in the state of war for Three Hundred and Thirty Five Years. Amazingly, not a single shot fired during these Three Hundred and Thirty Five years. This war was started on 30th March 1651 and ended on 17th April 1986.

Football War

Fought between El Salvador and Honduras, this war is also known as the Soccer War or 100 Hour War. Although this war was started after riots occurred during a football match between El Salvador and Honduras, but the main reason for this war was illegal immigration of the locals from El Salvador to Honduras. The war started on 14th July 1969 and ended on 18th July 1969.

World’s deadliest

World War II is world’s deadliest war so far. It claimed between 40,000,000 to 72,000,000 lives. It was fought between 1939 till 1945 and almost all the nations of the world were involved in. It is said that more than 100 million military personnel were mobilised in this war.

Pig War

This so called war was fought between the US and the British Empire over a territory dispute in North America. It was started when a pig died during cross fire. The Pig War was more of a confrontation than a war and the only death was of that pig. It is also known as the Pig Episode and Pig and Potato War.

War is never a good thing to experience because you can never predict the extent of damage and who will really be victims.
