Creating a study schedule that works is one of the most difficult tasks you’ll ever take on. It can take days, weeks, or even months to develop a schedule that helps you remember everything you need to know and get it all done. But once you’ve found the perfect study schedule, your grades will soar!
If you don’t keep a study schedule, your grades will suffer quickly.
Here’s why: when you don’t have a plan for how to study, it’s easy to fall behind on assignments or miss deadlines because they weren’t on your radar.
You might be tempted by other things that seem more interesting than studying at first glance (like hanging out with friends), but these things will inevitably lead to procrastination if not addressed immediately. This leads to lower grades and frustrated professors not exactly what anyone wants!
So what does this mean for students who want higher grades? It means that having a study schedule is key. There are many different types of schedules available, ranging from daily planners that include every minute of every day of the week to weekly planners that include every day.

Start with the big picture.
What are your goals? What do you need out of this course or subject? If you’re not sure, ask yourself what it would take for someone else to say that you’ve succeeded in this class. What would their response be? Write this down on a sticky note or somewhere visible so that it can remind you of your goals.
Break down your goals into smaller chunks.
Once you know what your end goal is, break it down into smaller pieces: what is the minimum amount of work needed for each part? What steps will get me from where I am now to where I want to be? Again, write these down on sticky notes or stick them around the room so they’re always visible.
Make a schedule.
Now that we know what needs to get done and how much time we have for each thing, let’s put it all together into a schedule!

Treat it like an appointment you wouldn’t miss an appointment with your doctor or lawyer!
Include deadlines for completing tasks as well as times for breaks and exercise.
Don’t let other activities take priority over studying leave plenty of time in your schedule for it!
