- The indigobird lays its eggs in the nest of another bird, Rock firefinch which helps incubate the eggs of the indigobird.
- In order to avoid suspecion of their host birds, they take out the exact number of eggs they laid after the incubation is done.
- The indigobird male mimics the song of the host that is known to rear its young.
- They dominate the chicks of their host.
- Their population is not known, but they are estimated to be less than 10,000.
- These birds are found in Panshanu Pass, Taboru Hill near Jos and at Kagora in northern Nigeria.
- They are small birds, about 12cm in size.
- They were discovered in 1968.
