Sokoto state police have begun a 24-hour patrol of all schools in the state in a bid to protect pupils and property from terrorists attacks, even as the Boko Haram sect remains a threat.
The spokesperson of the Sokoto State Police Command, Al-Mustapha Sani, on Tuesday said the initiative was started to make sure that schools are secure.
“This is part of sustainable and proactive measures by the command to ensure that all schools across the state are more secure.”
Sani said the command has also sensitized school principals, headmasters and private schools proprietors of the need to complement government efforts at ensuring security.
The police spokesman advised school authorities to be more security conscious and report suspicious persons or groups promptly.
