Some listings sounded perfect, but once I got the details, they didn’t match my experience at all. It made me realize how tricky it is to tell from a short job description if a role really fits your skill set. How do you usually figure that out before applying and wasting time?

If it’s full of vague buzzwords like “multitasker” or “fast-paced environment,” it’s probably generic. But when it mentions specific tools, software, or results they expect, that’s when I pay attention. I also look at how long the posting has been up — older ones might already have candidates in process. It’s about reading between the lines to see if it’s written for someone like you or just for volume hiring.

Now I focus more on reading the responsibilities and comparing them to what I’ve actually done, not just what I can do. I found job agency mississauga https://jobssite.ca/job-agency-mississauga/ helpful because they often list roles with clearer details and explain what skills are must-haves. Another thing that helps is calling the recruiter to ask about specifics — sometimes they know the employer’s flexibility better than what’s written. I also check how many of the listed duties I’ve already mastered; if it’s under 70%, I usually skip it. It’s better to apply for fewer roles that truly match than send out tons that don’t fit!
