Months before your JAMB exam date
Be organized: The ability to organize yourself and your study plan is undoubtedly one of the most effective ways to study. Therefore, you must be able to create a convenient timetable which should allow you set yourself study goals and actualize them. Ensure to stick to your timetable; judiciously.
Work with the rules of Mnemonic: Mnemonic rules works basically in such a way that associates certain concepts with other concepts that are more familiar to us, helping you memorize useful lists and sets. This rules will help you when studying, in that it is actually better that cramming; helping you memorize and retain important information.
Overcome procrastination: In order to excel in JAMB, you must be able to overcome procrastination. Students and especially teenage students have the tendency procrastinate their studies. You cannot afford to do that when studying for JAMB, unless you want to really fail. Therefore, you must find ways to motivate yourself, overcome procrastination and study to excel.
Understand and adapt the most suitable study style for yourself: Indeed, your understanding of the study style that is most suitable for you is essential to your learning process. Therefore, you must ask yourself whether you learn faster by reading, listening to audio tapes or watching clips. If it is reading, do you learn faster at night or during the day? Do you assimilate faster when the music is blasting through your earpiece or when everywhere is dead-silent? Understand all these and let yourself adapt to the most suitable style.
Night before exam
DO NOT CRAM! Staying awake on the night before your JAMB exam is a waste of time. It results to little success, and if anything could cause you to forget most of the time you have previously learnt. And what is worse; there is the possibility of falling asleep in the exam hall due to exhaustion. You cannot afford to let that happen.
The JAMB Exam date
- Wake up early so that you don’t need to rush through having your breakfast and getting ready
- Recheck the venue and time of the exam so as not to mistakenly get to another location or show up at the exam venue late.
- Before leaving home, check that you have everything that you will need –your exam slip, stationery etc.
- Make a few friends at the exam venue before the exam starts; it’s called networking.
- When the exam starts, read instructions carefully.
- Read all the exam questions carefully before starting and quickly plan how much time to allocate to each one
