Why every Teenager should be actively involved in their School’s extracurricular activities

Most extracurricular activities in schools are generally fun, which is why it is surprising when some students would rather just avoid it and pursue some other interests they find more appealing. And I am like come on…we are talking about extracurricular activities; good stuff for you! Why would anybody in their right mind want to avoid the debating society, the social club, the drama club or even sporting activities? There are so many reasons why every teen should take advantage of the extracurricular activities made available by their schools as I shall show in the subsequent paragraphs. Read on please.

The first reason why you should be interested in extracurricular activities is because they provide the needful opportunity for you to explore your interests as a teen.  Such activities give you the opportunity to choose and actively participate in activities that catch your fancy; activities that are not necessarily in the real purview of a standard academic timetable but still needful nonetheless. So now tell me, why would you want to deny yourself of such a wonderful opportunity to learn and enjoy fun things which you will not be required to write in exams?

Participating in extracurricular activities can make you more social. This is because when you participate in group activities of any kind, you get to meet new people who are typically not in the social groups you are used to. And by so doing, you widen your social circles. This is more like networking, a very important skill which anyone that strives for success in life must possess. So why not avail yourself the opportunity to hone such skill when you can?!

Indeed, active participation in your schools’ extracurricular activities is a good way to acquire certain [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][needful] professional skills which are not necessarily taught in the classroom. When I was in secondary school, I used to have a friend who was an active member of the press club. Now the press club we had then had two arms- one arm which was involved with writing articles and publishing such on the school’s press board and the other ram which read news every Wednesday before the entire school. This friend of mine was more interested in the arm that broadcast news while I was active in the arm that wrote stories. Today, this friend of mine has a good job working as a newscaster at a radio station while I write pieces on various topics. A certain extracurricular activity back in secondary school is to be thanked!

There are indeed many more benefits to participating in extracurricular activities. And what is more…it is free. So why limit yourself? Take advantage of every opportunity you have to improve yourself. Be best!
