Self Assessment
It is a good idea sometimes to think about how effective you are at learning- both in English and in other subjects. Consider the five key questions below. If you answer yes to any of them, think about how you can solve the problem. Sometimes, you can think up the answer yourself. If not you can’t, why not discuss the problem with a friend, or with your teacher? Answer yes and no.
- Do you find it difficult to concentrate when you are studying?
- Do you feel that you forget what you have learnt very quickly?
- Do you sometimes feel nervous about reading aloud or speaking in class?
- Do you find it hard to work outside class, or to do your homework?
- Are you reluctant to ask for help when you need it?
From now on, we will ask you to assess yourself on how well you are learning at the end of each term. Try to be honest when you think about the problems you have- and to be positive about possible solution. If you have any problems, ask your teacher.
Poetry
The policeman
He is always standing there
At the corner of the square.
He is very big and fine
And his silver buttons shine
He walks along with a heavy tread
Left, right, left, right
Swings his arms, hold up his head
Left, right, left, right
Once i wasn’t very good
Not far from where he stood.
He didn’t say a word
But i’m sure he must have heard
