Tragedy struck, yesterday, in Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, when the wall of Ketu Adiye Owe Primary School collapsed, killing a pupil and injured four others.
The incident came barely 48 hours after the state House of Assembly Committee on Education decried what it described as deplorable condition of public schools in the state.
The injured pupils were reportedly rushed to a private hospital before the council Chairman, Mr. Rotimi Rahmon, who reportedly visited the school shortly after the incident, directed that the victims be moved to the General Hospital, Ota, for better medical attention.
Our reporter learnt that the collapsed wall had been eaten up by erosion which had been the problem in that part of the school compound.
Confirming the incident, Chairman of the council expressed regrets over the unfortunate incident, saying he has directed that the standing wall of the affected classroom be brought down.
