The Kwara State capital, Ilorin will for the next ten days be the centre of attention as over 6000 students will converge for the 6th National School Sports Festival.

The organisers – Nigeria School Sports Federation (NSSF) have promises an exciting games having received the full support of National Academicals Sports Committee (NASCOM). Athletes are expected to compete in 17 scoring events and six demonstration games.
Defending champion, Cross River State will be aiming to defend its title after the team was sent forth on Wednesday by the State Governor, Liyel Imoke, who charged the team to retain the title.
To create awareness within the city for the championship, a road show was on Thursday organized to drum up support from the host state.
In addition, NSSF has promised to stage hitch-free games as things have been put in place to ensure that only bonafide and eligible athletes participate in the championship.
The tournament, which received the backing of Sterling Bank will also be the first time, it is getting the support of private sector.
According to the Secretary General of NSSF, Olabisi Joseph, the screening of athletes hold on Friday before the kick off of most of the events.
