Following the suspension of the nationwide strike embarked upon by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, activities have fully resumed at Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka and Asaba campuses, but with few students in attendance.
Speaking to our reporter yesterday, Chairman of ASUU in the state, Dr. Emmanuel Mordi, expressed satisfaction that his colleagues had fully returned to the classrooms only to meet negligible number of students, contrary to their expectation.
He said: “Lecturers are on ground and have resumed full academic activities, but curiously only a handful of students are on campus contrary to our expectations of a deluge.”
Mordi had on Tuesday announced that the “suspension takes immediate effect. This is in compliance with the resolutions of the meeting of the National Executive Council of the union held at the Federal University of Technology, FUT, Minna, on Monday, December 16.
“With the suspension of the strike, all academic activities have resumed in the Delta State University, and all lecturers are on ground to discharge their obligations to their students.”
