I salute you as you join me here today. I am here to serve you a weekly diet. I must tell you that it is a balanced diet for your mind. It is a diet of value orientation. Or should I say value reorientation. I pledge to make your visit interesting, yet informative and educating. Yes, educating, I hope you know that the word education comes from the Latin word, ‘educere,’ which means to draw out. It is to ‘bring out or develop (something latent or potential).’
In view of this definition, I want you to understand that I am only here to bring out what is already deposited inside of you by your awesome Creator. The truth is that you are more loaded than you have ever known or think.
Make it a point of duty to spend time with me here and in no time you will discover that you are too smart to be stranded. Did I just use the word, ‘smart?’ Yes, I did. It is in fact the title of this weekly column. So what exactly does it mean to be smart? That is exactly what this column is all about. So I will not let the cat out of the bag. As you keep coming, you will find the answer.
But I think it will be fair to talk about another word in the title of the column if I will not talk about the word, smart. Good! I am excited to talk about the word, creed. Now, before I discuss the word, ‘creed,’ how many of you have heard that word before? Not too many, right? I charge you to double your reading. I agree with the saying that knowledge is a form of power. I advise you to acquire it and use it. Yes, the word, ‘creed,’ is very simple. When I consulted the dictionary, it tells me it means, ‘Article of Faith…Statement of Belief…Value Code…’ So in summary, we can say ‘SMARTYouthCREED,’ simply means the values that smart youths believe and practice. Wow! That is great.
I am here to support you to rightly link every issue in your life to your values system. I want you to understand and accept that value is everything and you rise and fall on your values. I strongly believe that what you do is a function of who you are, therefore who you are is superior to what you do. I also believe that if you get your values right, you will get every other thing right. Why? It is simple arithmetic, ‘everything produces after its kind.’ Lions don’t give birth to sheep. My ultimate goal is to empower you to develop the right values above what the norms of your immediate environment present or seek to force on you.
Now that you understand why I am here, don’t ask me, what does it mean to be a youth? I will in return ask you, what does it mean to be you? Anyway, I will touch on that in the course of our weekly discussion here.
