We’ve all been there – that all-important call that comes just when your battery is about to run out leaving you frantically running around in search of a charger.
But now a solar device that can be wrapped around your wrist could mean you never have to worry about missing that call again.
Dubbed ‘Carbon’, the small charger harvests energy from the sun but also has the ability to be charged by USB if there’s not enough sunlight during the day.
While it may look like a watch, it doesn’t operate as one. The watch face is a simple solar cell that is designed to be water and dust resistant.
A multi-colour LED light flashes to reveal battery charge level and also works as a mini flashlight or safety strobe.
Charging is done by pressing a button located below the connector, and the port is accessed by unscrewing a hinged cover.
Each Carbon comes with a set of mini cables with a 2.5mm jack on one end and a iPhone 4/4S, Lightning (iPhone 5/5s), microUSB and USB on the other.
As well as mobile devices, the USB allows products such as cameras, tablets and laptops to be topped up with power.
The group is offering two case finishes with one with a brushed metal that we refer to as ‘Slate’ and the second with a black PVD coating referred to as ‘Coal.’
The wearable charger is estimated to be shipped in August.
