We fear nobody! Liverpool Manager warns Man City and Chelsea to expect no mercy

Brendan Rodgers saw Liverpool take control of the title race with another scintillating Anfield display and warned rivals Manchester City and Chelsea to expect more of the same.

Liverpool blew Tottenham away with a thumping 4-0 win that sent them two points clear at the top.

Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson all got on the scoresheet after Younes Kaboul’s second minute own goal settled any nerves and sent Liverpool to their most complete performance of this season.

Manchester City, who are four points behind, have two games in hand but they have to visit Anfield on April 13.

Chelsea must also go to Merseyside on April 27 and Rodgers, whose side have been formidable on home soil, believes Anfield will determine where the title goes.

Rodgers said: ‘There is no doubt they understand this is going to be a real tough place to come. We love playing here. The support today was incredible and that is only going to intensify as the season goes on. It works for us rather than against us.

‘We respect Chelsea. They have a world-class manager, top players, the squad has been put together over the last 10 years to win the Champions League and the Premier League and Manchester City are one of the new superpowers in European football.

‘But we feel we can win any game, because we are a team. We can operate at this level without fear. You see the confidence. There is no anxiety, no pressure. We may not have the best group of individuals but we have a lot of hunger in a team.’

‘It was an exceptional performance, everything we have been working towards in this last  year-and-a-half in terms of that hunger and intensity.

‘Our dominance in possession was very impressive. We had long spells with the ball trying to tire Tottenham out, then we had the penetration at the top of the field.
