Former Super Eagles coach Christian Chukwu has said that it was going to be difficult for the Super Eagles to qualify for next year’s AFCON in Morocco.
While expressing disappointment with Nigeria’s 0-0 draw against South Africa in Wednesday’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, Chukwu said that the Eagles have put themselves in a tight corner in their bid to defend their trophy.
“I’m quite disappointed we didn’t win, honestly. I thought it was a game we should have won but we didn’t,” he said.
Chukwu, who coached the Super Eagles between 2002 to 2005, said the players didn’t show enough bite.
“I thought we didn’t show enough bite and didn’t really trouble the South Africans. There were no real chances created and the strikers felt slightly isolated.”
Speaking on the possibility of qualifying for the championship, Chukwu reckoned it will no longer easy.
“It’s difficult now, because Congo and South Africa have more points than us and we still have to play in Brazzaville and Sudan.
“We have home games against Sudan and South Africa and we should focus on getting the results in those games,” he said.
