Christians protest take over of schools in Kwara

Ilorin was jolted this yesterday morning as thousands of Christians from different denominations stormed the streets in protest over the taking over of their schools by the Kwara State government.

The protesters were demanding for the return of the schools even as all schools in the state resumed same day after additional weeks at home due to fear of the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak.

The Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media and Communications, Dr. Muideen Akorede however denied that the Kwara State government had any such plan to take over Christian schools in the state.

Dailypost reports that the state government had been giving grants to the schools since the year 2006, a situation that technically confer ownership on the government. This, the Christian protesters are protesting against.
