Description deals with the convey of specific information about something so that the reader can have a clear picture of what is described.
Choose a topic you know about to help your writing. If possible, let your writing appeal to all five of the sense, not just sight, but touch, taste, smell and sound. In writing descriptive essay, there are some basic questions to be asked about the task.
These are:
- What are we describing?
- Why do we want to describe it?
- Who are we describing it for
- How should we describe it?
WHAT?
The need may arise for us to describe things or people such as:
- Locations
- Situations
- Objects at home, school or on the street
- People around us
WHY AND WHO?
The information may be required to guide people, help strangers to locate a place, teach people on how to handle some objects, show people the way, keep accurate records or to help the police to trace a person. But at the training level in the school, specific information is usually given indicating the reader or audience.
HOW?
This involves the process of describing what is to be described. Here, we hope to pay rapt attention to the questions.
