When you are a teenager growing up with the rest of your siblings at home, it can be easy to decipher whether or not you are your parents’ favourite kid. Agreed, usually the Last Child in every home is, and if you know what I am talking about you’d attest to the favoritism usually displayed towards Last Kids. But then again, once in a while it happens that the favourite is not necessarily the Last Child but rather the brightest, the most beautiful ones or simply the most presentable ones.
That said, this post details some of the most obvious signs you may not be your parents’ Favourite Child. But mind you, this isn’t meant to make you feel bad; no. But it’s meant to help you embrace the reality for what it is and live your life regardless. After all, even though it may not be known right now, you are indeed somebody’s favourite!
So, you will easily know you are not your parents’ Favourite Child when:
- Your parents constantly compare you to your siblings…especially the favourite.
- When every conversation you have with your parents involves a mention of how amazing the favourite one
- When your parents always tell you that you can learn one or two from the favourite.
- When you are plainly told that you are “the worst”!
- When your parents become uncomfortable when you complain about favoritism.
- When your parents are always at the beck and call of the favourite but hardly pay you the slightest attention!
- When every single thing the favourite does is pure perfection…including the obviously lame things.
- When you are constantly being reminded of the favourite’s achievements even when they clearly don’t measure up to yours.
- When you are constantly upset with the actual favourite.
- You make it your effort to let the favourite know that s/he isn’t special at all.
- But you rarely get treated specially such that it you’ve almost forgotten how to feel special. So when your parents finally treat you specially, you become suspicious.
- But it’s okay nonetheless because you are someone else’ Favourite; you don’t just know it yet!
