E-classroom excites secondary school students in Lagos

School children from Girls Senior High School, Agege, Lagos on Friday expressed satisfaction with the introduction of online training into their scheme of work.

The school is one of the beneficiaries of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC’s) e-classroom, meant to introduce the students to e-learning.

Some of the students who practised with the computers on Friday said it would afford them the opportunity to join the community of technology savvy students.

Alade Abosede, a Senior Secondary School (SSS) 1A student, said although she had once enrolled for a three month computer training, she could not complete it due to lack of funds.

“With the new e-classroom, it will be easier to acquire the skill, just like any other school work.

“It is now included in our daily school time-table and we take turns to learn it,’’ she said.

Oludotun Iyanuoluwa, another student of SSS-1B said that she had yet to know anything in computer, apart from the theory aspect they learnt in class.

“I am happy with the e-classroom. Now, online learning will be more realistic, unlike the theory we are used to.

“Between now and the time I will write my entrance examinations into the university, I should have learnt much to enable me excel.

According to her, the new trend of computer-aided examinations posed a challenge to her, but with the new e-classroom, there will certainly be an improvement for her in that area.

Mrs. Eunice Bosede, the Principal of the school, said that the concept was a good direction.

“We have been longing for such facility to help broaden our students’ horizon in ICT.
“I thank the management of NCC for the foresight in helping to ensure that our young ones are equipped ahead for the future,’’ she said.

NAN reports that the NCC’s e-classroom facility is targeted at ensuring that the future leaders are equipped with modern learning skills.

So far, over 200 schools have benefited from the project nationwide.
