Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board has begun a new programme, titled ‘Reading Parents on Radio’ to reenact reading culture among youngsters.
SUBEB Chairman, Prof Francisca Aladejana, said the programme was part of efforts of the Dr Kayode Fayemi administration to promote the culture of reading among school-age children and youths in the state.
The programme began at 4pm on Tuesday on Ekiti FM 91.5 with wife of the governor, Bisi Fayemi, who read a passage on the coronavirus pandemic as part of activities to mark her 57th birthday celebration.
Aladejana said, “Reading Parents on Radio put together by Ekiti SUBEB is designed to promote the culture of mentoring of youths in their formative years and encourage them to acquire love for books and reading.
“The programme is also expected to boost knowledge, expand vocabulary of listeners, improve their focus, concentration and memory as well as boost their writing skills.
