Every Teen Can Follow These 5 Steps to Deal with Addiction

These days, a lot of teens get deep into addictions long before they realise and they soon get to discover how bad it has been. If you ever find yourself in any kind of addiction, either to drugs, to masturbation, to sex or what have you, then follow these steps as listed in this article to deal with it.

Get involved in reading

Reading can be uninteresting especially when you read boring and technical books. It is advisable to read books that are interesting to you. Read them always especially when you are less busy, remember that, an idle persons can provide a working centre for the devil. Like Borchard noted, Books can be buddies too! And when you are afraid of imposing on others like I am, they serve as wonderful reminders to stay on course. When I’m in a weak spot, especially with regard to addictive temptations, I place a book next to my addiction object.

Get an accountability partner

An accountability partner can be a friend, colleague, a mentor, anybody you respect and can divulge personal information to. They can be very helpful in dealing with addiction. They don’t just come in to you, you reach out to them, tell them about your challenges and how they can be of help, remind them that you trust them to be helpful and swing into action by committing the details of your addiction to them, while you enlist their help in the process.

Get involved in things that can distract you from being addictive

Be involved in very interesting things that can distract you from being addicted to anything. Some of the things you can do is to, watch a movie, a very interesting one, play games, video games, scrabble, chess, etc, watch special TV shows that are educative, do sports, play football, basketball. Get involved in things that can keep you distracted from being addicted.

Do exercise

Exercise is good and can keep you from addiction. You can do a lot of work out, jug, visit the gym, most especially, get yourself involved in aerobic workout. The time you can spend to eat till you get obese, or over using drugs, or watching pornography, spend those times working out, it has positive effects on your muscles and tendons and generally on your health. So go ahead and do exercise and deal with your addictions before it gets out of hand.
