Do Yourself a Favour, Learn Something New Everyday

George Lorimer said, ‘You‘ve got to get up every morning with determination if you‘re going to go to bed with satisfaction. One of the most interesting way to live your life as a student is to begin each day with the determination to learn something new, you must determine to experience something different from what you experienced the previous day.

One of the best ways to learn something new is to read books. As a student, I read a lot of academic books in preparation for quizzes, tests and examinations but I had to make up my mind to read inspirational books that were necessary to give me direction. I read the books of Napoleon Hill, Positive Mental Attitude; I also read Brian Tracy, “Eat that Frog”. I read quite a number of books and by the time I was done with high school, I had a library filled with books. You can model the same method too.

Another way to learn something new is by reading blog posts, websites and articles. It is crystal clear that a number of high school students have smart phones and on their smart phones, they have access to applications with which they can learn with. Opera browser can help you ask Google any question you might want to and get immediate answers. I do this a lot of times because the wealth of resources embedded in Google is enormous. You can get as many textbooks, blogs etc to learn from on Google Search engine.

It is easy to learn when one visits new places. This might sound unnecessary to you but I tell you that it’s a great way to learn and that why schools do encourage excursion. The first time I went to Slave trade Centre in Benin Republic, I learnt practically by seeing what I usually read through books. It was practical and down-to-earth. On your vacations or holidays, where do you go? You play games! You cannot learn that way. Tell your parents or guardians to take you on tours, on significant learning trips. You would be glad you did.

While you get to learn, do not forget to reflect on what you have learnt. Think about what you have learnt and see how to apply it to your life.
