“Leonardo 4 Children”, the partner project of STEM Discovery Week 2019, is the flagship non-profit initiative of the Carano 4 Childrenfoundation. The initiative aims at stimulating the creativity and participation of European children and youth on art and science topics, inspired by the example of Leonardo da Vinci.
The foundation has prepared three competitions, two of which are for primary / secondary school children:
- Leonardo da Vinci’s Fables illustrated – the competition for 6-12-year- old children in Europe focusing on 10 selected Fables written by Leonardo da Vinci.Children across the European Union are encouraged to use and further develop their creativity and their analytical and artistic skills by creating an original illustration of one of Leonardo da Vinci’s Fables.
- Art & Science competition for 13-18-year-olds in Europe – the competition focuses on the creation of an original work which integrates art and science.Teenagers will use multi-disciplinary skills, including creativity, analysis, intuition and sensibility, to create an inspiring original work on the integration of an artistic and a scientific topic.
Both competitions are open from 1 February until 1 May 2019. The winners will be announced on 5 June and the awards ceremony will take place in Brussels on 26 September 2019.
