Girl Talk: The Most Embarrassing Period Moments and How to Deal With Them

Periods are totally normal, and you should never be embarrassed about getting yours! I mean, we’re not saying you should shout that you have your period from the rooftops, but you definitely shouldn’t be embarrassed about getting it in the first place.

That said, there are some embarrassing things that can happen while you’re on your period. It’s bad enough that you have to spend a few days bleeding and cramping. You don’t need an embarrassing moment on top of it! No worries, we can help you solve some common embarrassing period moments:

1. Problem: Someone Announces That You Have Your Period In Front Of A Bunch Of People

How to fix it: Silently die on the inside, put on your bravest face and just be like “Yeah, I’m a girl. I get my period. SO WHAT?”

2. Problem: Not Having A Tampon Or Pad Handy

How to fix it: First things first, see if there’s another girl around you can ask for a tampon or pad. You can also get them from most public restrooms. If you’re at school, your nurse should have a stash of supplies as well. Worst case scenario, you can create a makeshift pad out of toilet paper until you can get a tampon or pad! It’s best to make sure you have at least something in your bag or locker just in case.

3. Problem: Bleeding Through Your Pants

How to fix it: Don’t panic! Find a sweatshirt, button down, really type of long shirt and tie it around your waist. The grunge look is back in so it will look like a fashion statement!

4. Problem: You’re Fooling Around With Someone And You Have Your Period

How to fix it: There’s nothing to fix here! Just simply tell them you’re on your period. If they’re grossed out by this part of your life that you literally have no control over, they are not worth your time. Most of the time, you’ll find they’re probably cool with it.

5. Problem: When You Unexpectedly Get Your Period Out Of Nowhere And Ruin Your Favourite Pair Of Underwear

How to fix it: You can fix this! Soak your underwear in water and break out the stain remover. If the stain doesn’t come out, make these your new period panties and treat yourself to a new and adorable pair.
