I was rejected by 15 medical schools before finally gaining admission

Study medicine

An African American lady, Sotonye, shared her story on how she was able to finally study medicine after many rejections and depression.

Narrating her story to Humans of New York, Sotonye said she had always wanted to be a doctor ever since she was a little girl. She got the inspiration after meeting with a her first African American female physician when she was fourteen years old.

Achieving this didn’t come at ease for her as she had to work all through the time she was in school and barely had time to study.
She also applied to fifteen medical schools and they all rejected her.

She later took a student loan so she could focus more on her studies and the results came out to be the best for her so far.
