Attention Music Lovers! Here is a Review of the current top Ten Songs in Nigeria

Every Nigerian music lover can all agree that 2017 surely did come with a bang, especially  considering the number of chart topping songs that have been released so far. With every passing day, our musicians have worked hard, determined to up their games and give us only the best music there is. A time was when most of the songs on the chart list were simply not good enough, ill-produced and noisy crap. But today, we can be proud to boldly proclaim that Nigerian music is the best on the African Continent and indeed one of the best in the whole wide world. But enough of the these proclamations! let’s look at the top ten already; shall we?

On position number Ten is “Pana” by Tecno Miles. This classic Nigerian RnB song went places; trust me. It is so good such that even those who hitherto never liked Nigerian songs had no choice than to fall in love with it. Little wonder it has stayed on the top ten list for several weeks now and doesn’t look like it’s even ready to go. Well done, Tecno. We appreciate all the good music you’ve been making since you came to limelight.

On the position number Nine is  “Financial Woman” by Phyno featuring P-Square. When you have Phyno and P-Square dropping rhymes and lyrics on the same beat, you can be sure that it will be one hell of a song. And that is exactly what “Financial Woman” is. It has the typical P-Square gyrating sound, and of course Phyno rapped in Igbo language. It is just a sweet sound and I am sure you guys like it [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][or will like it] as much as I do.

Following up on number eight is P-Square again with “Bank Alert”. And what can I say…it’s P-square! The duo just have a way with their unique sound that gets everyone dancing. Just as its name indicates, the song talks about money; let’s go to the Bishop’s place ’cause there is money now, the lyric says. It is a lovely song and I am sure it will remain on the top ten list for a couple more weeks to come.

On number seven, Simi graces us all with her beautifully-serene voice, singing a song called “Smile for me”. There is just something about Simi’s voice that captivates the listener. All her songs are beautiful to the ears normally, but this particular one is something extra special. Perhaps it’s the composition of the music; the beautiful arrangement of ingenious sound with foreign ones. Or it could be lyrics that get me more. Whatever it is I don’t know for sure. But what I do know is that this is a beautiful song…undoubtedly one of the most beautiful ever produced this year.

The number six song on the Nigerian top ten is “Pepper Dem Gang” by Olamide featuring Davolee. Okay I have to be frank; I am not really a die hard Olamide fan. In other words, I do not like his music very much. Maybe it’s because it is generally a bit too noisy and he jabbers in Yoruba the whole time. So yes…I am not going to overpraise the song. But I am sure so many die hard Olamide fans are members of this community. Please do not persecute me; just understand that we all have different musical tastes. Anyway, the song is doing really well on the charts, and it looks poised to do even better in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, on the number five spot is Wizkid featuring Efya with “Daddy Yo”. It’s a nice song. Very much what you’d expect to hear from Wizkid. I particularly like the music video and I am sure you do too. Wizkid surely never disappoints and I am sure that for a several weeks to come, the song will just keep longing around on the top ten. Well done, Wizkid. Well done!

On number four on the chart is Wizkid again with a song called “sweet love”. The song is nice, a slower, Afrobeat and almost jazzy goodness that has everyone grooving nonetheless.  It’s safe to say that Wizkid is pure fire right now and he seems unready to slow down on his quest to topping the chart on number number one. We wish you all the best, Wizzy. Be the best indeed!

P-Square surely does dominate the top ten chart! It’s amazing because coming up again on number three is them with a a song simply called “Away”. It is a good song, but not beter than “Bank Alert” in my opinion. But hen it is on number three and it is the position on the chart that matters after all. Well done, Naija’s most famous twins. Keep killing it!

Runtown’s “Mad over you” is on number two on the top ten. For several weeks it was on number one, so it’s interesting to see it finally replaced. What can I say…I love the song. It is a purely Nigerian RnB, and I love RnB. So I’m happy to see it still up on the charts and doing so well.Hopefully it will remain there for a long time to come ’cause t deserves it. Well done, Runtown. I hope you are back at the studio making more music. Please do…

And on number one is none other than Davido with  a song aptly titled “If”. The song is surprisingly a Nigerian RnB, showing the singer’s mellow side as he serenades his lover. Each time I listened to the song, I kept wondering how Davido could possibly sound so mellow and nice instead of his normal screaming self. And then I finally realized that the truly lovely song was produced by Tecno Miles. Well done, Davido. More of this subtle side of yours, please ’cause people are loving it! I mean…it’s number one.

Alright people, do tell me what you think of all the songs on the top ten Nigerian chart. Leave your opinions in the comment section. Peace and loads of love!
