His name is Oyedele Olalekan and he is a JSS3 student of Ajinare Grammar School in Ido, Ekiti State. Olalekan recently invented his very own radio, a rechargeable one at that which interestingly also serves dual purposes. In other words it is not just a radio, but a dual purpose gadget comprising of the radio with two speakers, four lamps (so that Olalekan may read some books while listening to his radio I guess), and some charging ports for his phone as well. He built this multi-purpose gadget using an old paint container as you can see in the picture below.
Apparently, Olalekan’s unique attempt at invention was first revealed by one Adebowale Oba Hezekiah who shared the story on his Facebook Timeline. Mr. Hezekiah revealed that Olalekan has even begun making money off of his invention. He also urged those who would like to patronize/encourage the teen’s effort to contact him.
You have to agree that this is impressive, right? For a student who attend one of the most underfunded schools with limited learning resources, he still managed to put his knowledge to practice by producing something that actually works. This is the sort of students we should be celebrating, students who see problems in their surrounding and look for ways to solve such problems. Enough of the book knowledge and more of the practical aspects. It is students like Olalekan who give hope that someday in the nearest future, Nigeria will no longer depend exclusively on the advanced nation for their technology but will [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][as a matter of necessity] develop her own.
I can only hope that Olalekan continues to invent. And may all the teenagers reading about him now be challenged to get their knowledge to good use as well.
Well done, Olalekan!
