MOVIE REVIEW: KUNG FU PANDA 3

Kung Fu Panda 3 picks up from the end of the prequel – Kung Fu Panda 2 – where Po’s biological father, received a message alerting him of his son’s existence.

Po’s New Responsibility

His father, Li, then journeys from his village tucked away in the mountains to reunite with his long lost son who lived in China’s valley of peace. Meanwhile, Shifu has asked Po to take up the position of teaching the Furious Five, which becomes a part of Po’s adventure.

This is so, because in Panda village, the student must learn how to become the teacher, but Po has a difficult time mastering his new responsibility as well as mastering the art of chi which is the foundation on which Kung Fu beliefs are built. And for the first time, Po meets other pandas, with whom he has a mutually sustaining and beneficial relationship.

Return of an Old Enemy

With the help of his mentor, Shifu and the Furious Five; Po learns what it is to overcome challenges and become his own hero. Just in time for the return of an old enemy, Kai, whose mission is to wipe out, and take the chi from all the great Kung Fu masters so he can become the most powerful grand master in the world and rule China.

Yet, the only person who can stop him is Po, who must now step up to the plate as his teaching and spiritual skills are put to the test. And no one voices Po better than Jack Black; whose looks, personality, and soul just melds perfectly with the character as a hand in glove.

The Take-Aways

There are many wonderful and positive messages in this movie; some of which are that you have to believe in yourself and never give up, that you are not alone in this world and that family is important.

In conclusion, the action sequences are well staged, and some of the more dramatic and symbolic moments featured characters surrounded by bright and beautiful visuals. Also, the creation of an entire village filled with pandas, each with its own distinctive personality is a major success.

These effects among others, I suspect, are the aspects of Kung Fu Panda 3 that you will enjoy the most.
