Akachi Adimora-Ezeigbo is a Nigerian author. She is the winner of several awards in Nigeria, including the Nigeria Prize for Literature.
Adimora-Ezeigbo was born in Eastern Nigeria, gaining a BA and MA in English from the University of Lagos and a PhD from the University of Ibadan. She started teaching at the University of Lagos in 1981 and became of professor of English in 1999. She has taught in this university, in the Department of English.
She is the author of several works books, including novels, collection of short stories and children’s book. Besides her awards for the Nigeria Prize of Literature, she was also a joint winner in 2007 for her children’s book, My Cousin Sammy.
She recently released her biography titled, ‘Akachi Adimora-Ezeigbo: Life and Literature’, written by Ezechi Onyerionwu. Prof. Adimora-Ezeigbo believes that qualitative, affordable and functional education will address the socio-economic and political challenges facing the country. She is a prominent feminist and activist who believes that the socio-economic, security and political problems of Nigeria will be better addressed through the provision of viable education.
