Topic: Scientific Method

Introduction

Methods or processes used by scientists to solve scientific problems include the following amongst others;

  • Asking Question: This means that a scientist can ask questions in order to get accurate information. For instance, what makes a car move or is the earth spherical or flat?
  • Observing Things: This means that a scientist is looking carefully in order to find out more information about things.
  • Recording: This means that scientists write down their observations so that they we will not forget and also, to pass down their discoveries to other people.
  • Experiment: These are tests carried out in order to study what happens and to gain new knowledge.
  • Sort Things Out: It means that scientists sort things out to know which group each belongs such as sorting things by classing them into colours, sizes, shapes, etc.
  • Making Guess (Hypothesis): It means that scientists make guesses by giving answers or making judgments about something without being sure of all the facts.
  • Identifying Problems: It means that the ability to identify a problem is also the ability to recognise it and be able to say what the problem is. It means to find or discover a problem.
  • Drawing Conclusion: Conclusion is something that you decide when you have thought about all the information connected with the situation.
