If you’re a telenovela fan and watched Second Chance, then you should know Lorena Rojas. The Mexican actress and singer played the lead role in the popular 2005 telemundo series, “El Cuerpo del Deseo.” – aka ‘Second Chance’.
Rojas had a seven-year battle with cancer before she finally gave up the fight. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 but recovered. Unfortunately, in 2012, she was diagnosed of another cancer, this time in her bone. She fought the cancer the best way she could until in November 2014 when she was diagnosed yet again of liver cancer. In 2013, she disclosed to Mexican state news Agency Notimex that her illness was “chronic” after her tumour spread to other parts of her body.
“With profound sadness we want to inform the fans of Lorena Rojas and her friends from the press, that the Mexican actress and singer died today in Miami after taking with courage and positivity a battle with cancer,” her agency Latin WE said via a press release. The statement added that she was surrounded by her boyfriend, family and friends at the time of her death.
“Thank you all for celebrating my birthday with me. Beautiful day,” Rojas tweeted on February 10 when she celebrated her 44th birthday.
Rojas died in her home in Miami on Monday, February 16. She is survived by her daughter Luciana.
