See as Female Shark Swallows Male Shark at an Aquarium

In an aquarium in Seoul, South Korea, a turf war ensued between an eight year old female sand tiger shark and a five year old male banded houndshark. This resulted in the  eight year old female swallowing the five year old male over a course of twenty one hours, slowly ingesting the cetacean until only its tail was visible.

Aquarium officials suggest that the female might have reacted after being startled. This explanation is plausible because sharks have their own territories – being territorial animals -, and sometimes when they bump into each other, they bite out of astonishment.

The female shark will retain him for a few days after which she will regurgitate the creature, because ultimately, she will not be able to digest him.

In all, there are about 42 sharks, 20 sting rays and 2 turtles living together in the tank, with them all being well accounted for.
