Delta, Nigeria – Maureen, 16, must have had no idea that the consequences of her actions would not only take her to police custody but may also put her behind bars.
In Emede Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, the teen decided the best way to repay her cheating boyfriend was to bath him with acid. Maureen had accused her boyfriend of cheating on her for the last three months of their relationship.
Caught in the act: Violation of oath
After getting a tip, Maureen sneaked up on her boyfriend whom she caught having sex with another girl in a hotel within the community and then attacked him with an acidic substance she got from her fathers car park. Maureen said her boyfrien violated the oath they both took. She said “I was determined to teach my boyfriend a lesson. So I went into my father’s car park where I picked an acid water to teach him a bitter lesson”.
Confirming the incident which occured over the weekend, the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Celestina Kalu told the daily newspaper that the victim was admitted into a private hospital where he is currently being treated. He added that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as the investigations into the matter are completed.
