A teenager has been charged before an Oshodi Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, for assaulting one Sergeant Rabiu Awalu, by throwing stones at him, Vanguard reports.
The accused was arraigned on a two-count charge of assault brought against him by the police, which noted that the offence took place at Oshodi, Lagos.
Count two of the charge read: “That you Ajayi and others now at large on November 29, at 8.40p.m. at Oshodi under bridge, in Ikeja magisterial district did assault one Sergeant Awalu by throwing stones at him as a result of which he sustained injury on his head.”
Police prosecutor, Mr. Olatunde Kehinde, informed the court that the offence is punishable under Section 171 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State Nigeria, 2011.
When the charged was read to the accused before Magistrate L. A. Owolabi, he pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Owolabi granted the accused bail in the sum of N20,000 and adjourned till January 19, 2015.
