Teens! Behold Some Of The Weirdest Places In The World (Part 1)

There are all kinds of things on this earth just as there are some pretty weird places too! Some of these places are so creepy you’d literarily have chills running down your spine just thinking about them. Imagine a church for ghosts, or a bizarre island littered with dolls! And then of course there are some of those really dangerous places [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][too] where you dare not visit, including the Snake Island. I have compiled this list just for you and I truly hope you learn some new things by reading it inasmuch as you are “creeped” out. Enjoy please…

THE DOOR TO HELL

Creepy1

The Door to Hell is also known as the Crater of Fire, Gate to Hell and Darvaza Crater. It is located in Derweze, Turkmenistan and is basically a collapsed natural gas field which burns perpetually. According to various sources, The Door to Hell collapsed into an underground cavern in the year 1971; ultimately becoming a natural gas crater. Afterwards, it was set ablaze by Geologists with the intention of preventing the methane gas from spreading. And this was the greatest undoing, because ever since then the gas field has been burning nonstop. Well the good thing about it is that The Door to Hell now serves as a major tourist attraction. How nice is that!

ISLAND OF DOLLS

creepy2

A reclusive man named Julian Santana Barrera is said to have lived on this tiny island near Mexico City. He was a creepy man as it was him who hung all the dolls on the island. According to legend, Julian was tormented [haunted] by the spirit of a girl he once saw drown near the waters surrounded the island. And in his desperate bid to appease the dead girl’s spirit, he ensured to “rescue” any doll he saw floating in the water and then hang it on the trees. He did this every day of his life until he eventually died of heart attack. Guess the dead girl couldn’t be appeased!

THE CHAPEL OF BONES (CAPELA DOS OSSOS ÉVORA, PORTUGAL)

CREEPY3

The “Chapel of Bones” was built by another super weird human being. This weirdo, unlike Julian above, was a monk, and he had decorated the building with the bones of an estimated five thousand [5,000] of his fellow monks. And to make the place all the more creepy, he put two bodies (including that of a child) up in the ceiling such that they hang down like fans! Who knows…maybe the bones need some cooling!

CATACOMBS OF PARIS

creepy4

In Paris (also called the City of Light) there are so many underground tunnels. Now all these tunnels are said to be over two hundred miles long. But that’s not the creepy part; apparently. Instead, what is creepy about those tunnels is the fact they are home to an estimated six million bodies! Now that’s a lot of Creepy! Interestingly, some parts of the catacombs are even open to the public, serving as some kind of official museum. Other sections are however off limits. My only guess is that the ghosts there do not like disturbance…

AOKIGAHARA FOREST JAPAN

creepy5

Have you heard of Mount Fuji? Well, you ought to have! It is one of the most popular Mountains in the world and probably the most remarkable in Japan. Now at least you know where Japan is; yes? But then I digress… The Aokigahara Forest is located near the base of Mount Fuji. It is such a beautiful place as you can probably attest by looking at the picture. But then the beauty of this forest has been shrouded in mystery following the number of times Japanese have gone there just to commit suicide. Yes… over one hundred people have killed themselves in the forest each year over the past sixty years! Now that’s creepy on a whole new level, right? Exactly right. Little wonder many locals have dubbed the place the Suicide Forest. Can’t blame them…

CAT ISLAND (TASHIROJIMA, JAPAN)

creepy6

Still in Japan, there is another part that isn’t quite as creepy but rather interesting; at least to me. This is the small island of  Tashirojima also called Cat Island. It is about one hundred fishermen are said to reside there alongside their lovely neighbours- thousands of feral cats. So apparently, there are more cats than there are humans, yet it is the human beings who keep breeding them…wait for it…for good luck. Yay! I already want to be on this island. Gotta love cats!

SNAKE ISLAND (ILHA DA QUEIMADA GRANDE, BRAZIL)

creepy7

This is another small island, one that I would never visit for ten million dollars! It has much scarier inhabitants and in large quantities too. Oh yes…I am certain not even you would like to be here for all the riches in the world. How can so many dangerous snakes be in the same place?! H well, the Snake Island is located off the coast of Brazil just in case you’d like to visit someday. But before you go visiting, make sure you have passed all your exams and lived a meaningful life worth remembering…

POISON GARDEN, ALNWICK, ENGLAND

creepy8

In this section of the famed Alnwick Garden, you definitely don’t want to stop and smell the roses because they could kill you. Added in 2005 as a bit of a tourist attraction, the garden’s plants are toxic and poisonous, and grown for educational purposes.

JACOB’S WELL, WIMBERLEY, TEXAS

creepy9

The natural spring is a popular swimming hole, but the complex network of underwater caves beneath the surface is the real attraction for aspiring explorers. Unfortunately, the caves have claimed the lives of eight people who underestimated the well.

ST. GEORGE’S CHURCH LUKOVA, CZECH REPUBLIC

creepy10

An Artist Jakub Hadrava is said to have ironically brought some life back to this abandoned Czech church by installing plaster sculptures of ghosts. Tourists from all over the world come to see the spooky specters.
