READING EXPOSES YOU TO NEW THINGS: By reading, we expose ourselves to new things- new information, new ways of doing things, and different ways of solving problems. Indeed, reading helps you to explore one thing you really like which may end up becoming your career and source of success in the future. As the saying goes… reading makeths a man!

READING IS NEEDFUL FOR SELF IMPROVEMENT: Reading does help you form a “better you”!  Through reading, you will certainly begin to understand the world more- forming greater understanding on topics that interest you and using such knowledge to your advantage. For example, you may be interested in topics such as- “how to build self confidence”, “how to make plan better before taking action”, “how to memorize things better” and more. You read them up and adapt to good use! All of these self improvements start from the reading! Through reading, you create structured paths towards better understanding and better actions to take in the future. There is indeed no doubt that books are the quietest and most constant of friends; the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and of course the most patient of teachers.

READING IMPROVES UNDERSTANDING: The more you read the more [better] you understand.  Just consider this- reading allows you learn more about snakes and their habits; that you need to be aware of places where they usually crawl, the purpose of staying away from being harmed or bitten etc. Reading also helps you find out the truth about things just as it avails you with understanding of the rules of life. This enables you to adopt, adapt and acclimatize into any given society.

READING IS A GOOD PREPARATION TO ACTION:  Reading is an essential means to getting prepared for any given action. In our world today, getting reviews and feedback from other people can make a big impact on the way you make decisions; the pros and cons of each choice. Read about how to cook a meal for instance, or how to play chess, nice places for vacationing… You can also read about interesting places on earth, read the manual before using a new product and find out what’s good with fellow teenagers across the Atlantic. All these will help you become more enlightened and will definitely go a long way towards helping you become better positioned for excellence.

READING IS A GOOD WAY TO GAIN EXPERIENCE FROM OTHERS: When you are reading, you are actually gaining the knowledge and experiences of others. This can hasten your success towards a goal as you don’t need to repeat the same mistake while focusing on the right path in achieving something. It’s like a mountain of gems for you to discover in books because books contain people’s successes, failures and advice. Life is too short for you to keep repeating the mistakes that previously been made by others. There are more than four thousand billionaires and 12 million millionaires today. To become one of them, the first thing is to learn and get to know their pasts and how they managed to become so successful. Reading is [indeed] a great path to get to know and learn from great people.

DEVELOPING YOUR BRAIN: When you read, you develop your brain’s capabilities! This is because by constantly exercising one of the core functions of your brain (i.e., assimilation), you are improving it and better positioning it for more optimal use in the future. Thus, while you learn and grow by assimilating the points of views of various authours, you are keeping your brain in sound health. Now how beneficial can that get!
