Cotton is harvested from cotton after cultivation. And the interesting thing is that virtually every part of the cotton seed is very useful. Apparently, the most important is the fiber from which cotton is produced. But then there is also the cottonseed which vegetable oil can be extracted. Now just like the palm fruit, no single part of the cottonseed really goes to waste. The hulls are used [either] separately or in combination with other ingredients for preparing livestock feed, poultry/fish feed and as fertilizer.
Anyway, the primary focus of this post is to talk about how cotton itself is produced. So pay closest attention to this part of the article; okay? So, after the cotton is ready for harvest, it is picked; usually manually and also mechanically. Afterwards, the picked cotton goes through a mechanical separation process known as ginning. It is during this process that the cotton fiber is separated and baled. The bales are then taken for milling at the textile mill where the bales are further separated in order to facilitate what is carding. This is another necessary process by which cotton is cleaned and straightened, resulting in thin strands known as silvers. The silvers are then spun into yarns; said yarns which are the final products used for weaving and knit cotton fabric.
