Teens & Valentines: The Coolest Treat For That ‘Special’ Person

February 14th, better known as Valentine’s Day, is a day celebrated by both young and old. Pink and red apparel, candies, roses and cards from secret admirers mark this day for lovers all over the world.

Plans on Valentine’s Day are usually last minute surprises or are simple things that take place daily. The list of ways on how this day can be spent are endless, whether it be sending out a single card or surprising your significant other with a fancy gift.

Having a friend or family member as a valentine is becoming more popular than it once was, which gets everyone involved and no one isolated. However, some teenagers view having just a friend or a family member as valentines to be more embarrassing than not having a valentine at all.

Many feel Valentine’s Day has become overrated. They feel It has changed from exchanging a small card and a sweet candy to giving bouquets of roses, fancy gift, and extravagant love letters and poems – And the most disheartening of all – exhibiting unrestricted romantic feelings especially among teenagers.

While sex itself is NOT a true measure of love, many teenagers, especially girls, are often tricked to think otherwise – using valentine’s day as an excuse to go wild! Here is my simple advice… If you do have a boyfriend whose understanding of valentines is ROMANCE, he’s definitely a wrong company, and you should run for your life!

Reds and pinks, boxes of chocolates, bouquets of roses, and the day known as Valentine’s will remain present in society and active in celebration for years to come. But you don’t have to go all out or address someone on an emotional level, a simple card or a few candies go a long way. It’s the little things that count and the thought that goes unforgotten. Let someone know you appreciate them through a sweet gesture on St Valentine’s day.

Remember, the day is like every other. Don’t let just a 24-hour ruin your entire future!
