The Top 10 Best Playmakers in the Premier League

We’ve seen some amazing talent emerge and showcase itself this season. There seems to be a new found, heavy importance on the role of the “number 10” or the playmaker as we once knew it.

Here are the 10 best current playmakers plying their trade in the Barclays Premier League.

10. Hatem Ben Arfa

With 9 appearances for Newcastle this season, the Frenchman has scored two goals, created 8 goal scoring chances and had a passing accuracy of 82%.

9. Christian Eriksen

He may not have shown his full potential at Tottenham yet, but it’s still early days for him. In 5 appearances, he has created 7 goal scoring opportunities and has had an average passing accuracy of 81% .

8. Michu

The 27 year-old playmaker is possibly Swansea’s biggest asset as they look to gain a spot in the Europa League again. Scoring 2 in his 9 appearances, with a passing accuracy of 79% says it all. He was a brilliant player to watch last season and will continue his run of form in the near future as well.

7. Santiago Cazorla

Cazorla did amazingly well for Arsenal last season and remains one of the best playmakers in the Premier League.

6. Samir Nasri

He has scored 2 in his 9 appearances and created 11 goal scoring chances. Seemingly his confidence seems to have come back and the Frenchman could be seen doing better this season if this trend continues.

5. Oscar

If young playmakers were to be put on a list, this Chelsea lad would top it. Just 22 and putting in maybe the best performances for both club and country. Oscar has been on the scoresheet for Chelsea 4 times in 9 appearances and seems to have caught the attention of Jose Mourinho really well.

4. Juan Mata

He may be having a hard time under Mourinho at Chelsea, but he’s still one of the best in the League. Mata had 2 brilliant seasons at Chelsea and might hope to continue the same with some consistent run of performances for the club.

3. Wayne Rooney

4 goals, 8 appearances and an amazing impact on the few wins that United have had in the League this season, playing behind RvP seems like the best thing Rooney could do. Definitely a top playmaker.

2. David Silva

In 6 appearances this season, he has created 23 chances and scored 2 himself. Flawless passing at times, an amazing knack for goal and vision puts him up here.

1. Mesut Ozil

This shouldn’t be a surprise for anybody. This summer, Arsenal bought possibly the best playmaker in the world. The German’s arrival at Arsenal has literally turned things upside down for the Gunners and it seems like he is the missing piece of Arsene Wenger’s trophy drought at Arsenal.
