What do you Think of Nudity in the Entertainment Industry?

During a recent interview she gave to Arise Television, Nigeria’s Beyonce [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][Tiwa Savage] disclosed the reason why she thinks nudity is inevitable in entertainment. According to her, the desire to be glamourous while appealing to the audience is the reason why most entertainers (especially the female ones along them) cannot deal without exposing their bodies to the cameras. In her opinion however, it would be best to regulate the entertainers instead of trying to stop them from embracing nudity as one of their selling points.

Now some may find Ms Savage’s words controversial considering what many people conceive as the over-sexualisation of the female body and the exposure of such to minors. Indeed, hardly is there a Nigerian music video which does not show pretty girls flaunting their boobs and twerking their behinds all in the name of dancing. Doing that is certainly with the purpose to entertain. Yet, we must all agree that there are many people watching said materials and having many perceptions of it. In other words, many teenagers are certainly exposed to such videos on a daily basis. But then just in case anybody thinks it is appropriate, there are indeed measures that parents/guardians could be taken to ensure that their wards are not exposed to “unwholesome” contents all in the name of entertainment.

That said, we think that nudity can really not be separated from entertainment. That is just the same truth. However, just as Tiwa opined, there could be regulation put in place; and there already are such regulations. Parents and the children themselves must also take action to ensure that they limit exposure to any entertainment materials that is perceived as unwholesome.
