Time to Showcase your Spelling Skills at the Nigeria Spelling Bee Competition

The Nigeria Spelling Bee is a multilingual spelling bee competition where spellers are drawn from every state in Nigeria to spell words from the English, Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo languages.

The Competition shall start from the State level.

The indigenous languages words will not be used for elimination at the state level.
(No speller will be given undue advantage) 

Winners from the state level will be brought up to the Regional Level where they will contest to be participants in the National level (Grand Finale).

The competition at all stages will be aired on National television.

The organizers of the Nigeria Spelling Bee will be responsible for Transportation, Feeding and Accommodation of all the Spellers and their Coaches / Teachers at the National Level (Grand Finale).

Upon registration, Spellers will be regularly informed about competition dates, time and venue in their state via their phone numbers and email.

Eligibility

  • Spellers must be at least 9years old and at most 19years old.
  • Spellers must be at least in JS-1 and at most SS-3 as at the time of competition.
  • Spellers within the age range of 9-19years that are out of the Secondary School can attach themselves to a Secondary school to be eligible.

Requirement

  1. Spellers must register online before the closing date.
  2. Spellers are required to Print the Registration Confirmation page after submitting the e-Registration form.
  3. Spellers are required to upload a recent passport photograph during registration as it will be used to identify spellers during the competition.
  4. Spellers are strongly advised to download and print the Competition-Words (Yoruba, Hausa & Igbo) which will be used during the competition.
  5. Spellers are required to study the Competition-Words (Yoruba, Hausa & Igbo), as those are the words that would be asked during the competition.
  6. Spellers are required to study the English words on their own as English words would be drawn from The Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary.

  1. Go to any First Bank Plc Branch anywhere you are in Nigeria.
  2. Pay the e-Registration Fee ofN2,000 only into the below details.

  3. Keep your teller securely as it would be used to fill the e-Registration form.
  4. Important Notice:
    The security of your teller/teller number is your responsibility. Nigeria Spelling Bee will not accept any liability arising from any loss caused by exposing or sharing your teller number to another person.
